Brian Nichols

Brian Nichols is a partner who is the head of our Business Law and Tax and Estate Planning Practice Groups. He has practiced exclusively in these specialized areas of law since his call to the Bar in 1976.

In addition to these Practice Groups, Brian, as preferred counsel to Lawyers' Professional Indemnity Company, acts on behalf of lawyers who are alleged to have been negligent in the provision of tax related serves. Brian is often asked to "repair" errors that other lawyers have made.

Brian has designed a tax course on behalf of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (“CICA”) and has travelled across Canada to present that course for CICA. He wrote and developed "LEGALeeze", a publication produced and distributed by Carswell Thomson Professional Publishing, dealing with legal developments for accountants.

Brian has written for C.A. Magazine and The Bottom Line. He has published papers and lectured on tax topics for the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Tax Foundation. He has taught tax at the Bar Admission Course and has served as an examiner for the Law Society of Upper Canada. He was also a member of governing council of the Brampton Board of Trade.

Brian has been a member of a group of senior tax practitioners who meet monthly with senior members of the Toronto West District Office of Canada Revenue Agency. In conjunction with them, he has lectured three times each year to approximately 200 tax practitioners.
